Famous Followers of the Cabbage Soup Diet
Jaime Pressly, Emmy-winning My Name Is Earl actress, used the Cabbage Soup diet to drop her baby weight. ‘I lost the first 32 pounds by my 30th birthday, which we celebrated in Vegas. We had pool parties, and I was not about to be chunky. I did the cabbage soup diet twice in a row… you eat cabbage soup three to four times a day. But one day, you can also eat up to eight bananas.’
Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, regularly uses the Cabbage Soup diet to drop any extra pounds she doesn’t burn off fighting the undead. In between, she says, ‘I eat a healthy, balanced diet, but I don’t go crazy with my stunts because I do have to be able to show up for work the next day.’ But she also recognises, ‘Look, it’s crazy for people to try to be as thin as we are. We have personal trainers and personal chefs. It’s our job to look this way.’
Liz Hurley is another Hollywood star to slim down the Cabbage Soup way after giving birth. In her case, she famously lived on nothing but cabbage soup, denying herself other foods until the weight was off.
Renée Zellweger had to pile on the pounds for the Bridget Jones movies. She’s another example of celebrities who have adopted the Cabbage Soup approach to blitz dieting when she wanted to return to her ideal weight.
Other testimonials
‘This diet is tough, but it works. It lasts seven days, but I lost nine pounds. It was a tremendous boost to my weight loss plan.’ – Kayleigh
‘Works a treat. Boring and lots of side effects (mainly dizziness and irritability from the lack of calories) but it did the job. I lost eight pounds the first week, then went back to it a fortnight later and lost another five. Pretty good for a month’s dieting.’ – Shelley
‘Sure it works, but I’m not sure it’s worth it – the weight goes straight back on afterwards and that soup is so boring by the fourth day. I’ve tried it twice now, and both times was back where I started before long.’ – Harry
‘Make sure you know what to expect. This is no fun, but it isn’t a long-term plan either. If you want to lose weight fast for a party or holiday, it’s a good option. But be prepared for some side-effects too!’ – Carolyn.
